Hello Parents!!
Welcome to Miss C’s 1st grade class! This is my 2nd year teaching at St. Michael's and I'm looking forward to a great year! We will be doing many fun and exciting activities this year. Throughout the year, we will be focusing on strengthening reading and writing skills. It is very important for students to continue reading at home.  Many math skills will be introduced throughout the year as well and these skills can be strengthened at home with additional practice. Learning to tell time and counting money can be difficult concepts for students so any added practice at home will support your child’s success.

Each week I will be sending home a homework contract. It will list the homework assignments that need to be completed each night. This homework contract can be found in your child’s communication folder. Homework should take about 20-30 minutes each night depending on the nature of the assignment. After each assignment is completed, please sign the line provided. If you have any comments about the homework assignment, feel free to leave a comment as well. I am very open to hearing comments and concerns from you so please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time throughout the year.


Scholastic Information

We will be participating in Scholastic Book Clubs. I will be sending home a scholastic flyer each month. I will write my teacher code on it for your use. There are two methods you can use to order. You can fill out the form on the back of the flyer and return the form and a check (no cash!) to me or you can submit your order online. I STRONGLY prefer you order online. For each parent that orders online, scholastic will send our classroom a book for our library. Ordering online is very simple. You need to create a parent account and link your account to my classroom. You can search for my name or enter in my class activation code. HXV8F is the code for our class. You only need to find my classroom once and it will remember it for all future purchases. Scholastic offers some phenomenal deals so I strongly recommend ordering. Keep an eye out for the flyers each month!

  3 plain pocket folders, labeled with your child's name and subject -

Center Folder, Spanish Folder, Class Folder

  2 glue sticks

  1 box crayons, 16 count

  1 box colored pencils, sharpened, 12 count

  1 box markers

  1 hard pencil box (large enough to hold crayons, colored pencils & markers)

  1 pair Fiskar's scissors

  6 sharpened pencils

  2 pink erasers

2 dry-erase markers

  1 communication folder - from the school store $2.00

 2 primary notebook, #M-8037 - from the school store $10.00

  1 canister of Clorox disinfecting wipes (must be anti-bacterial! No baby wipes!)

1 bottle of hand sanitizer (Germ-X)

 2 box of tissues

  1 roll of paper towels
